Ceramic tile is a very popular choice for your home. It is durable and easy to
care for. It is also great for heavy traffic areas. Commercial rated ceramics
are great for any commercial application or they can also be used in your
home.
Ceramic tile comes in a wide variety of shapes and patterns. From a smooth
marble style to a rustic textured look, the choices are endless. Choose from
12x12's, 6x6's, 20x20's, and many more sizes.
Laufen, American Olean, Florida, Marazzi, Crossville, Dal, Euro, Mannington, Mohawk, Esquire, and various imports are all on display at the Don Booth
showroom. Along with many beautiful indoor floor and wall treatments, many
of these products can be used outdoors around pools and patios.
Keep in mind the size of the room or area you want to tile. Larger tiles can
make a room appear larger and more spacious. Smaller tiles give you more
grout lines which make the room appear smaller. The same holds true for
ceramic treatments on walls. Large wall tiles can make a shower or bathtub
appear wider and more open. Your choices will depend on the look you want
to achieve.
Ceramic tile can make a huge statement in the foyer or entranceway of your
home. Beautiful textures in both dressy and casual styles are available with
an abrasive finish to prevent slipping from wet shoes. Many ceramic wall and
floor tiles are also available in decorative inserts and borders.
The Don Booth Company has a large selection of quality ceramic tiles to

Installation of Ceramic Tile
Ceramic needs a substantial subfloor for support. If you are going over
concrete, however, a subfloor is not needed. The concrete may just need skim
coated or leveled. When going over a wooden subfloor or above grade installation, you will need at least an 1 1/2" subfloor before the ceramic can be installed. Otherwise, you may have a problem with the subfloor moving due to the ceramic being so heavy.
Using a cement board rather than plywood as your subfloor is highly recommended. Cement board is recommended when water is an issue such as shower and bath walls before ceramic is installed. Cement board gives you a water proof installation and has better support. It comes in both 1/4" and 1/2" thickness.
